Flaxseed Oil Information
During the course of our business, many veterinarians and animal lovers were asking us for a cost effective, premium quality, Flax Seed Oil in the necessary quantities for feeding to animals. That is when Fourflax in New Zealand was found. Their Flax Seed Oil is obtained from ripe linseed crops that are fully traceable right back to the fertile Canterbury Plains of New Zealand. We pride ourselves on supplying the highest quality products for dogs, cats and horses that use natural ingredients, and are well priced and effective. Many of their products contain their own flax seed ingredients, they are all GMO free, and contain no chemicals, artificial preservatives or colours.
Fourflax Equine Flax Seed Oil is both palatable and easy to administer. When kept refrigerated the oil will remain fresh and tasty for up to 3 months.
We recommend that once you have bought Flax Seed Oil for your horse, you keep it in the fridge. This helps to maintain the quality and freshness of the oil. It is also a good idea to place some kitchen towel underneath to catch any drips! If the bottle is too big (such as the 5 Litre, 10 Litre or 20 Litre), then as long as the container is kept in a cool dark place such as a garage or tack shed, the oil will keep just fine. The key is to keep it away from sunlight
For our oil, we suggest a daily feeding rate of 30ml-70ml of oil as a starting point. This will help your horse to adjust to the oil, and is a perfect amount for general health and conditioning. You should see results within 10-14 days, as long as the oil is fed every day. The coat and hair will be softer and shinier and you may notice a difference in mobility and general behaviour. If you have a miniature horse, you should be feeding roughly 30ml per day, a pony should be fed around 40ml per day, upwards to a horse of 17hh should be fed around 60ml per day. If your horse is suffering with a specific inflammatory condition, such as a skin problem, arthritis or allergies, then you may wish to increase this amount, as the amount can depend on the severity of the condition and the individual. If you are an endurance event rider or race horse owner and you wish to use the oil as an energy source, a daily feeding rate of between 130-200ml per day is suggested. Remember, the key is to feed the oil every day for results to be measurable.
